As fans snap up tickets to Tina Turner [ tickets ]'s comeback tour, the rock and soul icon continues to add more shows to the North American run.

The initial round of concerts went on sale May 10 and the launch date--Oct. 1 in Kansas City, MO--sold out in two minutes, according to a press release. More performances were added last week and now, the tour spans 28 shows across the US and into Canada through mid-December.

Since last check, second nights have been added in San Jose, CA; Newark, NJ; and Uniondale, NY, while a third gig was tacked on in the Los Angeles area. An updated itinerary is listed below. Tickets for all shows are either on sale now, or go on sale today (5/21).

Turner also has plans to launch a European outing early next year. Overseas dates can be found at her website.

The 68-year-old performer announced her retirement from touring eight years ago, but after singing "Proud Mary" with Beyonce at February's Grammy Awards, she had a change of heart. Fans from all over the world came out of the woodwork, requesting that Turner take her energetic live show back to the road.

The arena tour is expected to feature a major production to complement hits spanning Turner's four-decade career.

Many of those hits--including "Proud Mary," "Private Dancer," "What's Love Got to Do With It," and "The Best"--can be found on Turner's 2004 double-disc release, "All the Best," which entered The Billboard 200 at No. 2, becoming the highest debut of the superstar's career, according to her bio.

Turner's most recent studio album, "Twenty Four Seven," surfaced in 1999. Last fall, the eight-time Grammy winner released "Celebrate: The Best of Tina Turner [ tickets ]," a 95-minute DVD taken from a 1999 concert that celebrated her 60th birthday.

The legendary singer has sold 170 million records during her career, according to her bio, and is one of the most successful female rock artists of all time.
