Trace Adkins expands busy schedule
Country star Trace Adkins has added another dozen dates to his ongoing tour as he sails through summer with a host of projects on his plate.
The performer, who's been on the road since January, continues the trek tonight (5/22) in Anchorage, AK. He still has nearly 40 stops all over the US into October, and will cross into Canada for the Aug. 1 Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose, Alberta. One of the recent additions to Adkins' itinerary is a June 7 performance at Nashville's CMA Music Festival. Details are listed below.
The singer/songwriter's latest album, "American Man, Greatest Hits Volume II," debuted at No. 22 on The Billboard 200 in December. The set features three new songs, including the Top 40 country single and CMT Male Video of the Year winner "I Got My Game On," and Adkins' latest No. 1 hit, "You're Gonna Miss This." Both tunes are streaming at his MySpace page.
Meanwhile, Adkins has been hard at work on his eighth studio album, which is expected to surface this fall, according to his website.
Despite his busy schedule, the singer with the distinct baritone has found time for several other projects. He wrote and recorded the title song for truTV Network's upcoming series, "Black Gold," which follows the dangerous world of drilling for American oil in west Texas. Adkins knows a thing or two about the subject since he worked as a roughneck and derrickman on off-shore drilling rigs in the Gulf of Mexico before he became a star. The show is scheduled to premiere June 18.
Adkins also recently wrapped work on a couple of independent film projects: the David Zucker-directed "American Carol," a satiric spoof on the Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol," and the Steven Goldmann-directed horror flick "Trailer Park of Terror," which was featured at the Nashville Film Festival last month.
Adkins won small-screen respect earlier this year when he was the runner up on Donald Trump's NBC-TV reality show "Celebrity Apprentice." Though he didn't take the top prize, Adkins met his goal of raising awareness and funds for the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, a charity close to his heart since one of his daughters suffers from severe food allergies.
The Louisiana native also continues to promote his book, "A Personal Standard: Observations and Opinions from a Free-Thinking Roughneck," which offers his thoughts on politics, fame, parenting and personal responsibility.
