Richard Ashcroft Faces Lawsuit From Ex-Manager

LONDON--Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft is being sued for breach of contract by his ex-manager Jazz Summers. The writ states that Ashcroft terminated Summers' services without notice or explanation.

Summers is reported to be seeking "in excess of £50,000 ($75,000)" which could range up to several hundred thousands pounds and includes "post-termination" commission on profits that Ashcroft will make from solo and Verve releases in the next decade.

Summers told U.K. publication Music Week: "It's a very sad say for me when I have to sue artists. All I have heard from Ashcroft is that he says 'you have been paid enough already.'"

In its second week in the Official U.K. Album Chart, Ashcroft's "Alone With Everybody" is currently at No. 4. It debuted the week before at No. 1.
