Anita Baker takes live show cross country
Grammy-winning songstress Anita Baker has mapped out a summer schedule that will see her play a handful of live shows across the US from June through September.
The outing is set to launch June 13 in Vienna, VA, and from there, Baker will criss-cross the US, playing dates in Colorado, Nevada, Michigan, Florida, Maryland, Virginia and California. She'll also cross the border for a July 31 performance in Rama, Ontario. Details are listed below.
After a 10-year hiatus, Baker returned to the music scene in 2004 with her Blue Note Records debut, "My Everything," which reached No. 4 on The Billboard 200. The set spawned the R&B and adult contemporary hit "You're My Everything," as well as R&B/hip-hop singles "How Does it Feel" and "Serious."
The following year, the romantic-soul singer put out her first holiday album, "Christmas Fantasy," which includes yuletide classics and three new songs written by Baker and her producer, Barry Eastmond.
Baker shot to fame in 1986 with her five-times-platinum Elektra Records debut, "Rapture," and followed that with three more platinum albums: "Giving You the Best That I Got," "Compositions" and "Rhythm of Love."
Along the way, she's collected eight Grammy Awards for albums and songs including "Sweet Love," "Giving You the Best That I Got," "Just Because" and "I Apologize."
