Sarah Brightman to launch late-year 'Symphony' trek
Broadway star Sarah Brightman will mount a North American tour beginning later this fall to support "Symphony," her first studio album in five years.
The British-born soprano last launched a major tour following the release of her previous set, 2004's "Harem." For "Symphony," Brightman will mount a six-week, 30-city trek, kicking off Nov. 4 in Monterrey, Mexico.
A batch of dates went on sale yesterday (6/9); another large block of shows will go on sale June 16. Brightman's website has complete ticketing information.
In late January, Brightman released "Symphony," her first album in five years. The set, which follows 2003's "Harem," features a wide range of guest performers, including operatic singers Fernando Lima and Andrea Bocelli, as well as KISS frontman Paul Stanley.
Stanley duets with Brightman on "I Will Be With You," which is also the theme song from the latest "Pokemon" movie, "The Rise of Darkrai." The London Symphony Orchestra is also featured throughout the set.
"Whereas most singers gravitate towards vocal works, I have always been far more drawn to symphonic work, where the composer paints a story that the listener can see without opening their eyes," Brightman said in her online bio. "Over the past four years of recording this album, I find myself approaching my music even more visually than I ever have before. I found that the canvas was endless for this album."
The album debuted at No. 13 on The Billboard 200, Brightman's highest charting debut to date, according to a press release.
