Album Chart: Coldplay takes 'Viva' to No. 1

About 721,000 copies of Coldplay 's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" sold during the album's first week out, giving the band its second consecutive No. 1 debut in the US.

Of those, 288,000 copies of the set were digital downloads, marking the best sales week ever for a digital album, according to Billboard.

Lil Wayne 's "Tha Carter III" falls one notch this week to No. 2 on sales of 309,000, according to Billboard, which bases its flagship album chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail reports. The Disney Channel film soundtrack "Camp Rock" sold 188,000 during its debut week and claims the No. 3 slot.

The "Now 28" hits compilation slips one place to No. 4 on sales on 81,000, while Plies ' "Definition of Real" tumbles from No. 2 to No. 5 with 68,000 sold.

Rounding out the Top 10 are Usher 's "Here I Stand," Rihanna 's "Good Girl Gone Bad," Disturbed 's "Indestructible," Katy Parry's "One of the Boys," and The Offspring 's "Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace."
