The Faint maps summer tour behind new studio album
Indie-rocking "dance punk" ensemble The Faint will hit the road this summer to back its first new studio album in four years, "Fasciinatiion."
The Omaha, NE-bred group kicks off the run July 27 in Des Moines, IA. The 22-city tour runs the latter half of August, and includes swings through both the East and West coasts. Dates are shown below.
"Fasciinatiion," recorded in the band's home studio, is the group's sixth studio album and its first for the newly minted blank.wav recording label. Due in stores Aug. 5, the set follows 2004's "West From Birth," which has sold 117,000 copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
"It's pretty much been the founding policy of the band that we keep working on stuff 'til we're all happy," bassist Joel Petersen told Pitchfork.com last year. "And sometimes to make five people happy, you have to try five different ideas on every little thing--it just kind of takes a long time."
Originally known as Norman Bailer, The Faint was formed in 1994 and has undergone a large number of personnel and stylistic changes over the years. In recent years, the band's members have worked increasingly with various DJs on electronic remix projects. The group's most recent album, "Wet From Birth," surfaced in September of 2004.
Streaming audio of "The Geeks Were Right," the first single from "Fasciinatiion," can currently be heard on the band's official website.
