Michael Bolton swings through summer

Michael Bolton , who's been keeping a slow, steady pace on the road since May, has expanded his US summer tour through next month.

The blue-eyed soul singer will celebrate Independence Day tomorrow (7/4) in Mashantucket, CT, and travel down the East Coast through mid-month. He'll then hop over to the West Coast in late July and finish off with a couple of gigs in the South.

In September, the performer will be in Stamford, CT, for his 16th annual Michael Bolton Charities Benefit Concert. The non-profit organization strives to assist children and women at risk and expand opportunities for youth across socioeconomic and multicultural lines, according to its mission statement.

Bolton will spend most of October touring the UK, and he'll be back in the states for one-off shows in December and January. His US itinerary is listed below and overseas dates can be found at his website.

The two-time Grammy winner's latest album, "A Swingin' Christmas," was re-released last October with two new tracks after first surfacing as a Target exclusive in 2006. The set features Bolton and a big-band orchestra performing a host of yuletide hits, including "Silent Night," "Walkin' In a Winter Wonderland" and "Let It Snow."

The singer also recorded with a big band for 2006's "Bolton Swings Sinatra," which features Frank Sinatra classics including "New York, New York," "Night and Day," "My Funny Valentine" and "Fly Me to the Moon." The album includes a duet with Bolton's fiancee, "Desperate Housewives" actress Nicolette Sheridan, on the song "The Second Time Around." That tune is streaming at Bolton's MySpace page.

During his career, Bolton has sold more than 53 million records and found himself on the pop, R&B and classical charts. He has sung with Luciano Pavarotti and Ray Charles, written songs with Bob Dylan and traded guitar licks with B.B. King, according to his bio. The award-winning songwriter has also found his share of success writing for an array of other artists--everyone from Barbra Streisand to KISS.
