Rock the Bayou takes over Houston
A good sampling of rock's most notorious hair bands--including Warrant , Great White , Bret Michaels and Slaughter --will gather in Houston over Labor Day Weekend for the inaugural "Rock the Bayou" music bash.
The four-day festival, which kicks off Aug. 29, will feature 40-plus bands on two stages at the former Houston AstroWorld theme park site. The mainstage lineup also includes Sammy Hagar , Alice Cooper , Queensryche , RATT, Dokken , Twisted Sister , Skid Row, Yngwie Malmsteen, and Y&T, to name a few. A second stage will showcase emerging artists. A full list of confirmed acts can be found at the event's website.
Four-day festival passes are currently available for $99 and the price goes up to $125 on Aug. 1. Active and retired military personnel with ID will be admitted for half price, and rock fans looking for a VIP experience can score reserved seating with access to a hospitality tent for $250. For every ticket purchased, $1 will go to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
"Rock the Bayou" strives to be a family-friendly event, with plenty of food, vendors, a Ferris wheel and a drive-in-like screen for nightly movies. Campgrounds and RV facilities will also be available.
Organizers expect to see 50,000 people a day come through the turnstiles, according to a press release.
"We've got an unbelievable lineup that celebrates rock's top legendary artists," promoter Ali Fazeli said in a statement. "We've designed an event with a family flavor and the most affordable ticket price of the large summer music festivals."
He added that he's thrilled to host such a large, star-studded festival for the first time in Houston.
"This kind of event has been long overdue for such a diverse and acclaimed city," Fazeli said.
