Lyle Lovett adds fall dates with John Hiatt
Currently busy with his most extensive tour in years, Lyle Lovett has tacked a fresh batch of co-headlining dates with John Hiatt onto the fall end of his schedule.
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter--who played a pair of Austin, TX, shows in May with Hiatt, Guy Clark and Joe Ely--continues his outing with his Large Band Tuesday night (7/8) in Louisville, KY.
Lovett's headlining run is scheduled to hit 30 additional cities through the middle of August before the Texas performer and veteran country/blues singer Hiatt hook up for their acoustic trek, which kicks off Sept. 26 in Clearwater, FL, the first destination on an 11-city itinerary for the pair. All of Lovett's upcoming shows are detailed below.
The singer's 13th album, "It's Not Big It's Large," surfaced last August, reaching No. 18 on The Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart. The 12-track set features Lovett's signature Large Band and covers everything from country to blues, to folk, jazz and gospel. A deluxe version of the album including a DVD with studio footage is also available. A few song samples are streaming at Lovett's MySpace page.
"Its Not Big It's Large" follows Lovett's Lost Highway Records debut, "My Baby Don't Tolerate," which surfaced in 2003. That set marked his first collection of original material since 1996's "Road to Ensenada."
Lovett is also returning to the big screen this year, staring alongside Harry Dean Stanton, Justin Timberlake and Jeff Bridges in the comedy/drama "The Open Road," which wrapped shooting recently and is currently in post-production.
