Allman Brothers Band expands tour plans

After postponing a number of shows as frontman Gregg Allman recovered from medical treatments, The Allman Brothers Band is ramping up plans for its return to the road.

The group--which, as previously reported, will resume its roadwork in mid-August--has added a number of August, September and October dates to its schedule, including a two-night stand in Atlanta. Details for the group's upcoming shows are included below.

In March, the Allmans announced that they were postponing until next year their annual residency at New York City's Beacon Theatre, which was originally booked across 15 nights in May. The move was made so that Gregg Allman could recuperate from Hepatitis C treatments.

"I'm getting better but I'm still tired," Allman said in a statement released at the time. "I need to be at 110 percent to do the shows the way we do them. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support and understanding my Brothers and our fans have given me."

Details for the group's May 2009 residency at the Beacon will be announced early next year.

Meanwhile, the Allmans are already planning some special performances for next year, when they'll commemorate their 40th anniversary.
