Reverend Horton Heat is hot on the trail

The psychobilly rockers of Reverend Horton Heat continue to tear up the road with a European tour just ahead and another extensive run of US dates that will take them through the end of the year.

The bandmates, who recently wrapped a spring/summer North American jaunt, are taking a brief break before jetting to Europe later this month. They'll return to the US for a handful of festival performances over the next few months, and then hit the road hard once again beginning Oct. 24 in New Orleans. The US itinerary focuses on the eastern half of the country through mid-December. Stateside concerts are detailed below and overseas shows are listed at the Reverend Horton Heat's website.

Fellow psychobilly outfit Nashville Pussy will once again open the US shows, with Reckless Kelly and Backyard Tire Fire appearing on select dates.

On the road, the Rev is collecting donations for Nothing But Nets, an organization that buys mosquito nets and ships them to Africa, where at least 3 million children a year die of malaria, according to a blog posting from Jim "Reverend Horton" Heath.

The band--comprising guitarist/vocalist Heath, upright bassist Jimbo Wallace and drummer Paul Simmons--released its last proper studio album, "Revival," in 2004 and followed that in 2005 with the group's first-ever Christmas offering, "We Three Kings." Last year saw the release of a 15-song set titled "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Reverend Horton Heat." That album features tracks from the trio's two releases on Interscope: 1996's "It's Martini Time" and 1998's "Space Heater."

Earlier this year, Heath released the debut album from his side project, Reverend Organdrum, which focuses on vintage American music. The trio, featuring five-time Grammy-winner Tim Alexander on Hammond organ and Todd Soesbe on drums, has plans to showcase material from the set, "Hi-Fi Stereo," during Texas shows this month and in September. Details can be found at the group's MySpace page.
