Jackopierce returns after decade hiatus
Acoustic rockers Jackopierce will reunite for a headlining tour and new album this fall, more than 10 years after the band called it quits with a farewell tour.
The Texas duo--singer/songwriters Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce--kick off the comeback run Sept. 26 in New York City, with 14 cities currently lined up into late November for the reunion run. Details are below.
The reunited duo will be touring behind a new CD, "Promise of Summer," their first recorded work together in more than a decade. The 11-track album, which features 10 original compositions in addition to a remake of an earlier Jackopierce song, "March," will be available Sept. 9 as a digital release and through the act's website.
The duo released its previous studio effort, "Finest Hour," in 1996, followed a year later by a sold-out farewell tour and "Decade," a retrospective double-album.
"We both admit that we did not realize or appreciate what we had," O'Neill, in a press release, said of the pair's musical split. "There is a lot more gratitude--for each other and for the gifts we have to write and play music."
"We have been blessed with the ability to strap guitars on our backs, get on a plane, and go play a show anywhere in the country," added Pierce. "That is the career I always hoped we would have."
