Drowning Pool stays busy through summer

Hard rockers Drowning Pool , who have been on the road since January, will continue to tour the US through the summer.

The band is currently in the South and will focus on the Midwest through mid-August, with a Frisco, TX, Ozzfest date thrown in the mix. The full itinerary is listed below.

Drowning Pool's non-stop touring spree supports its third album, "Full Circle," which surfaced last summer and scored mainstream rock hits with "Soldiers" and "Enemy," both of which are streaming at the band's MySpace page. The set marks the group's first recording with new vocalist Ryan McCombs, who fronted the rock band SOiL for seven years.

Drowning Pool has kept the pedal to the metal despite several recent rough patches. Early in the year, much of the band's equipment was stolen in two separate robberies, and then bassist Steve Benton was ordered off the road by doctors who diagnosed him with an oftentimes temporary neurological disorder that causes paralysis of the face and sensitivity to sound. In May, the group had to reschedule its Australian tour because McCombs was suffering from strained vocal cords.

The Texas-based rockers are no strangers to hardship. While they were touring with Ozzfest to support their 2001 platinum-selling debut, "Sinner," and first hit single, "Bodies," original frontman David Williams died from a heart defect. Drowning Pool regrouped with singer Jason "Gong" Jones and released "Desensitized" in 2004, but parted ways with that frontman due to "creative differences."

"There's never been a point when we thought about stopping," guitarist C.J. Pierce stated in the band's bio. "Everything we've gone through has just brought us closer."

Pierce moved to Dallas in the mid-'90s to form Drowning Pool with drummer Mike Luce, Benton and Williams when they were all in high school. With the addition of good friend McCombs, the group has a family vibe again, Pierce added.
