Iron & Wine's Sam Beam plots fall solo outing
Singer/songwriter Sam Beam--better known to the world by his performing and recording name, Iron & Wine --has lined up a run of late summer and fall shows.
Beam's future schedule is heavy with festivals, most recently with a slot at Saturday's (7/12) Sub Pop 20th Anniversary Festival in Seattle. He'll also make an Aug. 3 appearance at Chicago's Lollapalooza.
The singer will also be playing support dates for The Swell Season in late September and early October, followed by a few solo headlining dates in the Pacific Northwest. Details are included below.
Beam also has a number of European shows lined up in August. Those dates can be found at the singer's website.
Beam spent six months recording "The Shepherd's Dog," Iron & Wine's third full-length album, with longtime producer Brian Deck and engineer Colin Studebaker.
Working mainly in his home studio in Texas, the singer expanded his instrumental palette on the new album by including help from his sister, Sarah Beam, along with Patrick McKinney and EJ Holowicki. Calexico's Paul Niehaus and Joey Burns also contributed to the recording, which debuted at No. 24 on The Billboard 200 album chart following its release last September.
Previous to "The Shepherd's Dog," Iron & Wine released a pair of EPs in 2005: "Woman King," released in February, and "In the Reins" in September, the latter of which was a joint effort with Calexico.
