Eagles glide into summer
The Eagles are setting out on the next leg of their "Long Road Out of Eden Tour," which has been expanded to 18 shows in 13 North American cities.
The summer run launches tonight (7/14) in Philadelphia and focuses on the eastern and southern US, with additional stops in Toronto and Moncton, New Brunswick. Multi-night engagements are booked in Atlantic City, Toronto, Boston, and Chicago. Details are listed below.
The Eagles will be the inaugural act to break in Tulsa, OK's new BOK Center Arena Sept. 6. That show and September gigs in Houston; Dallas; San Antonio, TX; and St. Louis, MO, go on sale July 21. All other dates are currently on sale. Ticket information is available at the band's website.
On the road, the veteran rockers--Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit--are playing their classic hits as well as material from last year's "Long Road Out of Eden," which is the Eagles' first collection of new material in 28 years. The two-disc set, released last November, topped The Billboard 200 and the country albums chart, selling more than 711,000 copies its first week out. It has since been certified seven-times platinum.
The double album has spawned the crossover hits "Busy Being Fabulous" and "How Long," the latter of which earned the Eagles a Grammy for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The set, originally sold exclusively through Wal-Mart stores, recently became available as MP3 downloads through Amazon.com.
The Eagles have sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, earning five No. 1 singles and five Grammy Awards, according to a press release. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers' "Greatest Hits 1971-1975" is the best-selling album of all time in the US.
