Henry Rollins starts 'Recountdown' to November

Punk icon/iconoclast Henry Rollins will launch another round of spoken-word dates in September to coincide with the run-up to--and aftermath of--this fall's general elections.

"Hoping that the bad times are almost over, I am taking advantage of the current situation to spend the last few nights of the catastrophic Bush administration onstage," Rollins said in a press statement announcing the "Recountdown" tour, which launches Sept. 18 in Ames, IA.

"Things will be so different after he's gone. For me, the new century will have finally arrived," Rollins continued. "Since I was last in the cities that I will be visiting on this tour, I have been fairly far and wide and have a lot of new stories to tell. I look forward to spending autumn in my favorite country."

The 39-city trek will run through a Nov. 10 show in Salt Lake City, UT, while Rollins will continue his recent barnstorming throughout the globe with visits to Thailand and Burma, followed by a run of European dates in August. Details for the North American visit are included below, while Rollins' overseas plans can be found at his < a href="http://www.henryrollins.com/" target="new">website.

Rollins continues to flourish in several modes of media simultaneously, earlier this year wrapping the second season of his Independent Film Channel series, "The Henry Rollins Show," in which he delves into music, film, politics and pop culture with the help of celebrity guests. Past episodes of the show are now re-airing on Fuse TV.

He also continues to host his Los Angeles-based radio show, "Harmony in my Head," and tend to various acting projects, most recently starring in last year's straight-to-DVD sequel "Wrong Turn 2: Dead End."

Rollins rose to prominence in the early '80s as the frontman for punk band Black Flag and went on to form the Rollins Band, which last toured in 2006. In addition to performing live, acting and authoring books, he is an outspoken human rights activist.
