New Kids roll out more reunion dates

New Kids on the Block [ tickets ] continue to expand their North American reunion tour ahead of its mid-September kickoff.

The 10-week outing, which features UK pop star Natasha Bedingfield in the opening slot, is set to launch Sept. 18 with the first of three nights in Toronto. The coast-to-coast trek spans nearly 50 dates, including newly added second nights in Atlantic City and Uncasville, CT. Since last check, shows have also been tacked on in Sacramento, CA; Albuquerque, NM; and Charlotte, NC. An updated itinerary is listed below and on-sale dates can be found at the group's website.

On the road, New Kids on the Block plan to put a new twist on their old hits and introduce material from their forthcoming album, which is due this fall. They've teamed with another old-school boy band, New Edition, for a song titled "Full Service," according to People magazine. The rumor mill also has NKOTB trying to recruit Michael Jackson and Madonna for collaborations.

Meanwhile, fans are getting a taste of what's to come from the album's lead track, "Summertime," which continues to climb Billboard's Pop 100 chart after nine weeks. The tune is streaming at NKOTB's MySpace page.

New Kids, whose members are now in their 30s, announced their reunion on NBC-TV's "Today" show in April and returned to the program the following month to give their first public performance together in 15 years. They've since played a couple of radio festivals and performed at Toronto's MuchMusic Video Awards.

As teenagers, NKOTB heartthrobs Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood sold more than 70 million records and racked up back-to-back No. 1 albums with 1988's "Hangin' Tough" and 1990's "Step by Step."
