Bayside works new album this fall
Alt-rockers Bayside are in the studio recording a new album and they'll support the set with a run of US dates in the fall.
The "Involuntary Movement Tour" is scheduled to launch Oct. 7 in Cleveland and visit 35 clubs and theaters across the country through mid-November. Support acts The Matches, Valencia, and The Status will join the trek, which is listed below. Tickets go on sale Friday (7/18).
Bayside's forthcoming album, "Shudder," is being produced by David Schiffman (Weezer, Johnny Cash) and is due Sept. 30. Singer/guitarist Anthony Raneri said the band is anxious to get the new material out.
"I honestly feel that this is the best Bayside album that we have ever made," he said in a statement. "It's probably the most youthful and energetic of all of our records and we can't wait to bring that electricity to the stage on the 'Involuntary Movement Tour' this fall."
"Shudder" will follow last year's "The Walking Wounded," which is scheduled to be re-released next week as a "gold edition" including a DVD with behind-the-scenes documentary, live shows and music videos.
"The Walking Wounded" marked Bayside's first studio effort as a full band since the tragic death of original drummer John "Beatz" Halloran. The musician was killed in a 2005 car crash that also seriously injured bassist Nick Ghanbarian. The Long Island-based band had been on tour at the time and Raneri and guitarist Jack O'Shea soldiered on as an acoustic duo, which led to the recording of 2006's "Acoustic" album/DVD featuring guest Josh Caterer of the Smoking Popes.
Songs from both sets are streaming at Bayside's MySpace page.
