Mountain Goats, Kaki King offer 'Last Happy Night'
Indie faves the Mountain Goats and Kaki King will hook up this fall for "The Last Happy Night of Your Life" tour.
The US outing is scheduled to kick off Oct. 13 in Chicago and visit clubs and theaters from coast to coast through Nov. 9. Dates include a two-night stand in Los Angeles and multiple shows in Texas and New York. Details are listed below.
The Mountain Goats , founded in the early '90s by singer/songwriter John Darnielle, are supporting their February release, "Heretic Pride," which broke into The Billboard 200 and reached No. 8 on the magazine's Heatseekers chart. The 13-track set adds more characters and stories to the band's large catalog, which comprises more than 400 songs, according to the Mountain Goat's bio.
The group also has plans to cross the Pond in September for a couple of UK shows, details of which can be found at the Goats' website.
Guitarist/composer/singer King also made a showing on the Heatseekers chart with her March release, "Dreaming of Revenge," which continues her evolution from acoustic instrumentalist to full-fledged singer/songwriter. The performer, who honed her skills busking in New York subway stations, has also stayed busy appearing on albums by Tegan and Sara and the Foo Fighters, as well as contributing to the film soundtracks "Into the Wild" and "August Rush."
King will be back on the road with a few US dates next month, and she'll spend a couple of weeks in Europe before joining the Mountain Goats. Her full tour itinerary is listed at her MySpace page.
