Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs plot new album, tour
Singer/songwriter Holly Golightly and her backing "band," The Brokeoffs (consisting of multi-instrumentalist Lawyer Dave), have lined up a fall US headlining tour.
The British singer and her bandmate will kick off the run Oct. 16 in New York City. The pair is scheduled to hit 33 cities on the outing through late November. Dates are below.
The duo's debut American release as a band, "Dirt Don't Hurt," is due out Oct. 14 in the US. The set follows last year's "You Can't Buy a Gun When You're Crying," which was only released overseas.
The new album was self-produced by the pair and recorded in five days in the Spanish town of Gijon, at an all-analog studio called Circo Perrotti, which is outfitted, according to a press release, with vintage recording gear.
Golightly began her career in 1991 with the Billy Childish spin-off group Thee Headcoatees, but departed the erstwhile girl group after four years to spawn her own solo career. She also appeared as a guest on The White Stripes' "(Well It's True That) We Love One Another" from the duo's 2003 album "Elephant."
The prolific singer has released more than a dozen albums as a solo artist since debuting with 1995's "The Good Things."
