Stereolab looks at fall dates for 'Chemical' return
Indie electronica act Stereolab looks to the future and the band's forthcoming studio release, "Chemical Chords," with a run of North American shows this fall.
The French/British hybrid kicks off the 22-city trek Sept. 20 in Costa Mesa, CA. After a pair of Southern California appearances, the outing will move to the South and then head to the East Coast, where the group's plans include a three-night stand in New York City (10/2-4). Dates are included below.
The band has lined up various support acts during the run, including Atlas Sound (the solo project of Deerhunter lead singer Bradford James Cox), French dream-pop outfit Monade and singer/songwriter Richard Swift. Consult Stereolab's website for information on support acts for specific dates.
"Chemical Chords," due in stores Aug. 18, represents the group's first true full-length studio album since 2004's "Margerine Eclipse." In 2006, the band released three limited-edition EPs and collected them on "Fab Four Suture," which was released the same year.
The new set features 13 songs co-written by the band's Laetitia Sadier and Tim Gane, along with a solo composition by Gane. Former Stereolab and current High Llamas member Sean O'Hagan contributes string and bass arrangements to the disc.
One track from the album, titled "Three Women," is currently available through iTunes.
