Alicia Keys assembles theater trek
There's been no official tour announcement, but a handful of new Alicia Keys dates have been trickling in over the last week.
The superstar, who wrapped a North American arena tour last month, is hitting the trail again in September and, this time, she's visiting theaters. So far, she's got eight shows scheduled across the US and one in Vancouver. Details are listed below.
Keys continues to support her third studio album, "As I Am," which surfaced in November and became the biggest debut for a female R&B artist in SoundScan history, according to a press release. The set moved more than 742,000 units in its first week and spent several non-consecutive weeks atop The Billboard 200. It has since scored triple-platinum status and spawned the hit singles "Like You'll Never See Me Again," "Teenage Love Affair" and "No One," the latter of which won two Grammy Awards. The video for Keys' new single, "Superwoman," is streaming at her website.
The singer's recent "As I Am" tour doubled as a text-message donation campaign that helped raise more than $40,000 for the Keep A Child Alive organization, which provides anti-viral drugs to millions suffering from AIDS in Africa. Keys took a few moments out of each concert to show a clip from her film "Alicia in Africa: Journey to the Motherland" and encourage fans to make a donation.
In other Keys news, the songstress has joined fellow multi-Grammy-winning artist Jack White to record the theme song for the 22nd James Bond adventure, "Quantum of Solace." The song, "Another Way to Die," will be the first duet in Bond soundtrack history, according to a press release. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in November and the soundtrack is due October 28.
Also in October, Keys will appear opposite Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson and Queen Latifah in the film adaptation of Sue Monk Kidd's best-selling novel "The Secret Life of Bees."
