Jackson Browne conquers the world
Veteran singer/songwriter Jackson Browne is set to launch a world tour next month to support his first new studio album in six years.
The "Time The Conqueror World Tour" will start with a US leg that rolls out Sept. 15 in Washington, DC, and crosses the country through early November. Tours of Japan, Australia and Europe will follow, keeping Browne busy through next spring. Stateside dates are listed below and those overseas can be found at Browne's website.
Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (8/8), and premium seats to benefit The Guacamole Fund charity will be available through the organization's website.
Browne's new studio album, "Time The Conqueror," is scheduled to hit the streets September 23. The 10-song set was recorded with the performer's longtime band--Kevin McCormick, Mark Goldenberg, Mauricio "Fritz" Lewak and Jeff Young--along with additional members Chavonne Morris and Alethea Mills.
Browne's most recent studio release is 2002's "The Naked Ride Home," which marked his first set of all-new songs in six years.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has been holding fans over with a series of live releases, the latest of which surfaced in March. "Jackson Browne-Solo Acoustic, Vol. 2" was recorded at concerts in the US, UK and Australia. The 12-song, career-spanning set features Browne alternately on guitar and piano, just like 2005's Grammy-nominated "Jackson Browne-Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1."
Browne's music career took off in 1972 with his self-titled debut, which spawned the hit "Doctor My Eyes." His biggest album, 1977's "Running On Empty," has gone seven-times platinum, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.
Last year, Browne was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. The musician and political/social activist has also been honored with several humanitarian awards.
