Young Jeezy rides out 'Recession' on coming tour
Hip-hop star Young Jeezy will kick off a tour this weekend ahead of his forthcoming new studio album, "The Recession," which drops next month.
The rapper will kick off the run Sunday (8/10) in Houston, the first date on a 10-city outing that runs through a Sept. 2 appearance in his hometown of Atlanta. The short trek also includes appearances in Chicago (8/18) and New York City (8/26). Details are included below.
"The Recession," Jeezy's third major-label studio release, is due in stores Sept. 2. The album's first single, "Put On," features production from Drumma Boy and Kanye West, and was released to radio in June. A second single, "Crazy World," was released earlier this week.
"I went from 'Thug Motivation' to 'The Inspiration' and [now] 'The Recession,'" he said in a recent interview with hip-hop website SOHH.com. "And that's just how I'm feeling, I'm feeling the recession. I'm feeling the drought and I'm gonna speak on it. And when I speak on it you're gonna appreciate it."
The set follows 2006's "The Inspiration," which hit No. 1 on The Billboard 200, selling more than one million copies in the US.
In June, the rapper was arrested in Atlanta and charged with speeding, no proof of insurance, open container, reckless driving and driving while impaired by alcohol/drugs, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A court date on the matter is pending.
