Jonas Brothers
"A Little Bit Longer"
(Hollywood)
Still in the midst of a blockbuster North American tour, the Jonas Brothers are now ready to celebrate the release of their third album. The first single from "A Little Bit Longer" is the tune "Burnin' Up," which is already a major hit with the trio's fans.
The new record follows the band's platinum-selling, self-titled sophomore set, which debuted last August at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and spawned the pop hits "S.O.S.," "Hold On" and "When You Look Me in the Eyes."
The New Jersey-reared brothers--Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas--reportedly co-wrote all the new songs and recorded much of the album on the road in a specially outfitted Gibson tour bus. John Fields served as executive producer on "A Little Bit Longer."
Besides the current tour and new album, the Jonas Brothers are also involved in several other projects. They starred in the recent Disney Channel Original Movie "Camp Rock," which premiered back in June. They also will appear in the Disney Channel series "J.O.N.A.S!," set to debut this fall, and will then move to the big screen next year for a Disney Digital 3-D flick capturing the "Burnin' Up" concert tour.
New Kids on the Block
"Greatest Hits"
(Sony)
Riding high on the success of its hot comeback single, "Summertime," the legendary boy band will now attempt to capitalize on the current wave of New Kids mania with the release of a greatest greatest-hits package.
As teenagers, the New Kids--Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood--sold more than 70 million records and racked up back-to-back No. 1 albums with 1988's "Hangin' Tough" and 1990's "Step by Step." They disbanded in 1994, but have now reunited for a major world tour and to record a new studio album, which is due out this fall.
"Greatest Hits" features such fan favorites as "Hangin' Tough," "Step By Step" and "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)."
Extreme
"Saudades de Rock"
(Open E)
The Boston rock band is ready to release its first new studio album in 13 years. "Saudades de Rock," the band's fifth studio outing, follows 1996's "Waiting for the Punchline."
The reunited Extreme--which features original members Gary Cherone (vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Pat Badger (bass) and new addition Kevin Figueiredo (drums)--is currently touring in support of "Saudades de Rock." The 21-city outing will run through late August and end on the West Coast.
David Sanborn
"Here and Gone"
(Decca)
The smooth jazz giant returns with his 23rd solo album, "Here and Gone," which follows 2005's "Closer." The award-winning saxophonist, who has scored Grammy gold six times, is joined on this platter by such guests as Eric Clapton, Joss Stone, Derek Trucks and Sam Moore. "Here and Gone" was produced by Phil Ramone.
Daddy Yankee
"Talento de Barrio"
(Machete)
The Latin Grammy Award winning artist is back with a follow-up to last year's "El Cartel: The Big Boss." The 14-track "Talento de Barrio" features the radio/club hit "Pose" and guest stars Arcangel, Randy and Tempo.
