B.B. King heads into fall with more dates, new album

B.B. King , who just finished a coast-to-coast summer jaunt, will hit the pavement again next month for a string of US shows that stretches into December.

The 82-year-old blues legend has added 20 cities to the fall leg since last check, including a two-night stand in Houston. The jaunt is scheduled to launch Sept. 6 in Laughlin, NV, and visit a mix of clubs, theaters and casinos across the country through Dec. 1. Details are listed below.

Meanwhile, King is getting ready to release a new album, "One Kind Favor," which features covers of old blues songs that inspired him as a young man. Produced by T Bone Burnett (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Roy Orbison), the record was made to sound like it was recorded in the '50s. Players include Dr. John on piano, Nathan East on standup bass and Jim Keltner on drums. The set is scheduled to be released Aug. 26 on Geffen Records.

Earlier this year, King offered up "Live," a DVD/CD collection recorded during several 2006 concerts at his own B.B. King's Blues Clubs in Nashville and Memphis. The DVD comprises 18 classic King tracks, while the CD features 12 songs from the live sets.

In other news, the blues icon will preside over the Sept. 13 opening of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in his hometown of Indianola, MS. Also next month, King will begin hosting his own weekly show on XM Radio's newly relaunched blues channel, "B.B. King's Bluesville."

King, who started his recording career in the '40s, has released more than 50 albums, won 14 Grammys and been inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His many honors also include the Presidential Medal of Freedom and a "Living Legend" medal from the Library of Congress.
