Alison Moyet plots solo shows after Yaz comeback run
Just a few months after finishing her reunion tour with Yaz, singer Alison Moyet has mapped out her first solo outing through the US and Canada in 14 years.
The British singer kicks off the 16-city trek Oct. 5 in Toronto, with highlights including stops in New York City (10/7), Boston (10/8) and Los Angeles (10/25).
In February, Moyet will join songwriter Michel LeGrand--primarily known for film scores such as "Yentl," "The Thomas Crown Affair" and others--for a tour of UK venues. Those dates, and pre-sale information for the North American dates, can be found on the singer's official website.
Earlier this year, Moyet and Vince Clarke surprised fans by announcing that Yaz (known in the UK as Yazoo) would be reuniting for a world tour and possible new recordings. The pair--best known for a series of synth-pop hits in the early '80s that included "Only You," "Don't Go" and "Situation"--launched the tour in Copenhagen in May.
To coincide with the outing, the duo issued a four-disc box set, "In Your Room," in July. The package includes remastered versions of Yaz's original studio albums--1982's "Upstairs at Eric's" and 1983's "You and Me Both"--along with b-sides, remixes and a DVD featuring several of the pair's music videos and exclusive interview footage.
Moyet's seventh and most recent solo album was last year's "The Turn," which includes the singles "One More Time" and "A Guy Like You." The performer's solo career began with 1984's "Alf," which hit No. 1 on the UK charts and saw moderate success in the US.
