Janet Jackson taps LL Cool J for upcoming tour
Janet Jackson has invited LL Cool J to join her "Rock Witchu Tour," which is set to roll out later this week.
The North American arena trek kicks off Wednesday (9/10) in Vancouver, and LL Cool J will appear from Sept. 25 through the currently scheduled Oct. 22 finale in Dallas. Since last check, an Oct. 16 performance at New York City's Madison Square Garden was added to the itinerary, which is detailed below.
"Rock Witchu" marks Jackson's first tour in seven years. The superstar is supporting her 10th studio album, "Discipline," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 in March--her sixth album to do so. In addition to showcasing new material on the road, the singer is expected to perform many of the hit singles that have helped her sell more than 100 million records during her career, according to a press release.
Before hitting the road, Jackson will headline Sunday's (9/7) ABC-TV special "America United: In Support of Our Troops."
For LL Cool J, the tour coincides with the release of his 13th album, "Exit 13," which is due Sept. 9.
"I never could have predicted that I'd still be rocking the mic more than two decades after my debut, but here I am," LL Cool J said in a statement.
The hip-hop star teams with Def Jam labelmates The Dream on the lead single, "Baby," which recently debuted on the Billboard charts and marks LL's 42nd career chart debut, according to his bio. The video for the song is streaming at his website.
Other collaborators featured on "Exit 13" include 50 Cent, Wyclef Jean and Richie Sambora.
