Ratdog trots along the East Coast this fall
Bob Weir's Ratdog has wrapped its summer jaunt and is heading into fall with a slate of US shows along the East Coast.
The performances, dubbed "An Evening with Ratdog" (to indicate no opening act), kick off with the jam band's traditional two-night Halloween event in Westbury, NY, and stretch through late November, when Ratdog will make its annual multi-night run through Florida. Highlights include a two-night stand in Washington, DC, beginning the day after the presidential election and a two-nighter in Upper Darby, PA. The itinerary is listed below.
Between tours, the band is inviting fans to submit designs for this year's T-shirt contest. Designs will be accepted through Sept. 15 and further details are available at RatDog's website.
The group's summer outing with Gov't Mule and the Allman Brothers provided the latest material for its live CD series, which began in 2003. All shows are recorded and made available for purchase in CD and download formats, and fans can now get their hands on freshly burned CDs right after the shows.
Ratdog's one and only studio set, "Evening Moods," was released in 2000. The album comprises eight originals and a version of the Grateful Dead's "Corrina."
Weir, a co-founder of the Grateful Dead, started Ratdog shortly before Jerry Garcia's death in 1995. The band performs a large repertoire of songs, including Dead tunes, originals and covers.
