Mudvayne ready to put 'Game' into motion on fall tour
Alt-metal outfit Mudvayne emerges from a brief recording hiatus this fall with a new album, "The New Game," and a tour to support it, along with a sweet deal for fans.
The Midwestern rockers will kick off the run Oct. 28 in El Paso, TX, with 35 dates planned on an outing that stretches well into December. Details are below.
Additionally, when fans pre-order copies of the band's new album through a dedicated area on Best Buy's website, they will be given a code that allows access to ticket opportunities on a first-come, first-served basis for the upcoming tour through Ticketmaster. (Ticketmaster is LiveDaily's parent company.) Fans will also receive a one-year membership to Mudvayne's fan club, which grants access to videos and other special online features.
"We created 'The Album Is The Ticket' program to give back to the fans that have supported us for so many years," the band's frontman, Chad Gray, said in a press statement. "Traditionally, over the life cycle of an album, a fan purchases a CD, DVD, tickets to a show and a fan club membership, generally spending over $100 for the experience. For the launch of 'The New Game,' fans can experience all of these elements for well under $40."
More information on the CD/concert-ticket deal can be found on a special website set up for the promotion.
Due in stores Nov. 14, "The New Game" is Mudvayne's first studio album of all-new material since 2005's "Lost and Found," which debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart, selling close to a million copies, according to the band's record label.
The band worked with producer Dave Fortman (Slipknot, Evanescence) on the new set, which emerges after delays caused by Gray's and guitarist Greg Tribbett's tour schedule with their side project, Hellyeah.
"It's heavy and has great hooks, but it also has some moments that are a little more rock 'n' roll that are really cool," Fortman recently told MTV.com's Headbanger's Blog. "It's not anything drastic, but every now and then you’ll catch a little hint of old-school rock."
