Interpol, Swervedriver members plot Magnetic Morning for fall run
Indie-rock duo Magnetic Morning --featuring members of Interpol and Swervedriver --takes to the road this fall for a run of headlining shows.
The band, a collaboration between Interpol drummer Sam Fogarino and Swervedriver's Adam Franklin, kicks off the outing Oct. 15 in Athens, GA. The 19-date trek runs through a Nov. 10 appearance in Atlanta. Details are below.
Additionally, Franklin's Swervedriver has a pair of UK dates scheduled for this month. Check the band's MySpace page for further info.
Originally known as The Setting Suns, the pair released a self-titled, six-song EP last fall as a digital-only collection before changing the project's name to Magnetic Morning "due to an already existing entity with a name too close for comfort," according to the duo's MySpace page. A 5-track version of the EP was re-released in physical form this spring through DH Records.
According to the band's website, the group spent time in a recording studio last month with assistance from audio engineer Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes, Drive-By Truckers), working on material for a full-length debut.
Guitarist/vocalist Franklin's other band, Swervedriver, reunited for a brief US tour earlier this year. The British alt-rockers had been on official hiatus since the late '90s. The band's most recent studio record is 1998's "99th Dream."
