Neil Diamond stretches tour into January
Neil Diamond has added a third leg to his North American tour, extending the trip through next year.
The superstar, who launched the trek in July, continues tonight (9/24) in Seattle and will work his way across the US through early November, when he'll make up a couple of shows that were postponed earlier this summer due to a bout with laryngitis. The new leg kicks off Nov. 22 in Grand Forks, ND, and visits more than a dozen cities across the country and into Canada. An updated itinerary is listed below.
Tickets for the new dates go on sale beginning Sept. 29 and VIP packages are available at the ILoveAllAccess website.
On the road, Diamond is mixing classic hits from his massive catalog with new songs from his May release, "Home Before Dark." It's all complemented by his stage production, which includes an "impressive" lighting grid, he said.
"Basically, I'm trying to cover a lifetime of music and to be as close up to the audience as I possibly can," Diamond said during a recent teleconference. "So the stage and the lighting and the choice of the songs that we use in the set, and the sequencing of the songs are all based on that, connecting with the audience in a way, as best I can really."
"Home Before Dark," helmed by renowned producer Rick Rubin, is Diamond's first-ever No. 1 album in the US. Highlights include the duet "Another Day (That Time Forgot)" with the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines, and the lead single, "Pretty Amazing Grace," which became a Top 40 hit in the adult contemporary genre.
During his four-decade-long career, Diamond has sold more than 125 million records worldwide, earned 36 Top 40 hits, a Grammy and a Golden Globe, according to a press release.
