Natalie Cole cancels October dates
Natalie Cole 's fall tour has been put on hold while she regains her strength following treatments for Hepatitis C.
The Grammy-winning R&B/jazz singer was hospitalized Sept. 12 as a result of side-effects from her medication and a heavy promotional schedule, Cole's publicist told The Associated Press.
The rep added that Cole recently taped several TV appearances and had appeared live on NBC's "Today" show a day before she entered the hospital.
"We're canceling her activities in October, but we do expect her to have a complete recovery," publicist Maureen O'Connor said. "She just needs some rest."
Last month, Cole announced an October tour to showcase material from her new album of American standards, "Still Unforgettable." The set surfaced Sept. 9 and debuted in the Top 20 on The Billboard 200.
"Still Unforgettable" is the sequel to 1991's "Unforgettable ... With Love," which sold more than 14 million copies worldwide and earned Cole several Grammy Awards. The title track on the latter album is a posthumous duet with Cole's legendary father, Nat King Cole. On the new album, father and daughter reunite for the lead single, "Walkin' My Baby Back Home."
Cole announced in July that she was suffering from hepatitis C, a liver disease spread through contact with infected blood. She said the disease was likely caused by her drug use years ago, according to the AP.
