Chris Cornell [ tickets ] will embark on an eight-city tour next month with Timbaland, who produced the grunge-rocker's forthcoming third solo LP, "Scream."

Along with the Timbland shows, the former Audioslave and Soundgarden singer will also play a few solo dates while out on the road. The trek kicks off Oct. 17 in Denver; Cornell's first solo appearance follows on Oct. 21 in Tucson, AZ. Details are included below.

"Scream," due in stores Nov. 4, is the follow-up to 2007's "Carry On" and 1999's "Euphoria Morning." The R&B flavored album may surprise fans used to Cornell's metal-tinged gonzo vocals with his previous two bands.

"This is different from anything I've ever done," the singer recently said on Ryan Seacrest's "On Air" radio show. "I've come from an indie rock world, where, if you have a producer, it's somebody who's not a musician, not a songwriter.

"He's just someone who twists knobs and can kind of tell you if they think a song is too long or too short or needs to be more aggressive. [Timbaland]'s a songwriter, so I was working with him in a collaboration, sort of as if we were in a band."

Cornell, who called the forthcoming album "the best work I've done in my career" in a posting on his website, will participate in meet-and-greet events during the "Scream" promotional caravan with Timbaland. Check the album's website for the complete schedule of events.
