Chris Tomlin looks into the future with 2009 US tour
Christian singer/songwriter Chris Tomlin has lined up dates well into next year, with shows scheduled all the way through April, as he starts to back his latest studio set.
The Texas-based performer kicks off the 35-city run Jan. 22 in Hershey, PA. The trek features West Coast and Midwest legs, as well as a concluding run through the Southern states, winding down April 9 in Winston-Salem, NC. Details are included below.
Tomlin will be supporting "Hello Love," his fifth studio album, and the follow-up to 2006's "See the Morning," a crossover hit that debuted at No. 1 on SoundScan's Current Contemporary Christian chart, while scoring a career-high debut at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 list. The album hit stores earlier this month.
The new set, which was produced by Ed Cash (Steven Curtis Chapman, Amy Grant), features the single "Jesus Messiah," which scored the top position on iTunes' Christian and Gospel chart in its first week, according to Tomlin's publicist.
"With each new record, I continue to strive to create songs that will help people voice their worship to God," the singer said in a press release. "Worship is a massive word with a very broad scope, but in the end, it is very simple. It is love! It's our response in love to our great God who loved us first."
Tomlin, who released his debut album, "The Noise We Make," in 2001, was named Male Vocalist of the Year at the Gospel Music Awards in 2006 and 2007, and Artist of the Year this year and last.
