Oasis excavates US arena tour behind 'Dig'
Oasis has announced dates for the US leg of the world tour in support of "Dig Out Your Soul," the band's latest studio release.
The British rockers will kick off the 11-date tour Dec. 3 in Oakland, CA. Ryan Adams & The Cardinals will support on all dates, and tickets for the run go on sale Oct. 3. The band is selling an upgraded ticket package through Ticketmaster that adds an Oasis T-shirt along with a copy of the band's new CD. See the group's official website for complete information on ticket packages. (LiveDaily is a Ticketmaster company.)
The band's upcoming run includes a Dec. 15 show in London, Ontario, which is a rescheduled date from earlier this month following the group's cancellation of a pair of shows after singer/guitarist Noel Gallagher was attacked by a fan and knocked down during the band's Sept. 7 performance in Toronto.
"Noel fell heavily on to his monitor speakers when he was pushed suddenly from behind by his attacker and suffered bruising to his ribs and hip," said a statement issued by the band. The group also canceled its planned Sept. 12 club show in New York.
"Dig Out Your Soul," the band's seventh studio album and the follow-up to 2005's "Don't Believe the Truth," is due to hit stores Oct. 7. The set's first single, "The Shock of the Lightning," is set to hit radio airwaves this week.
"If 'The Shock of the Lightning' sounds instant and compelling to you, it's because it was written dead fast," Gallagher recently posted on the group's website. "And recorded dead fast. [The single] basically is the demo. And it has retained its energy. And there's a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best."
