The Damned map late-year return to US
Proto-punkers The Damned will return to the US club circuit this fall, with a headlining tour set to hit both coasts and run through the first few days of 2009.
The British group--which is generally acknowledged by rock historians as the first English punk band to record and tour the US--will kick off the run Oct. 28 in San Francisco. The tour splits into two halves, with the first six shows in California, and the remainder of the 11-city trek taking place on the East Coast, beginning with a Dec. 29 show in Washington, DC.
In between the two legs, the band will hit a variety of UK venues. Overseas dates can be found at The Damned's official website
The group, whose most recent studio album is 2001's "Grave Disorder," currently consists of founding members Dave Vanian (vocals) and Captain Sensible (guitar/vocals), along with drummer Pinch, keyboardist Monty Oxy Moron and bassist Stu West.
In 2006, the band released a new track titled "Little Miss Disaster," its first single release since 1996's "Shut It." Around the same time, the group also released a concert DVD, "MGE25," documenting a 2004 concert in Manchester, England, that marked the 25th anniversary of The Damned's 1979 album "Machine Gun Etiquette."
