Local H takes 'Angry' songs for a spin

Energetic alt-rock duo Local H is mounting a US trek to support its latest album, "12 Angry Months."

The fall outing is set to launch Oct. 17 in East Lansing, MI, and hit nearly 40 clubs and theaters from coast to coast through late November. Fellow rockers Electric Six and Golden Dogs appear on most dates, which are listed below. Local H has also booked a New Year's Eve gig in Chicago.

The duo--comprising singer/guitarist/vocalist Scott Lucas and drummer Brian St. Clair--released "12 Angry Months" last May and snagged the No. 18 spot on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. The concept album marks the band's seventh studio effort and its debut on Shout! Factory Records.

The new material was written after the bitter end of a long-term relationship, and chronicles a full year of post-breakup experiences. Each track corresponds to a month and deals with a range of emotions from anger to jealousy to acceptance. A few songs from the set are streaming at Local H's MySpace page.

Originally formed in Zion, IL, Local H released its first album, "Ham Fisted," in 1995 and followed that up with the gold-selling "As Good As Dead." The latter record earned the band a reputation for delivering sardonic songs such as "Eddie Vedder" and "High-Fiving MF," and scored Local H its biggest alternative radio hit, "Bound for the Floor."

"12 Angry Months" follows 2004's "Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?" as well as the rockers' 18-track live offering, "Local H Comes Alive in 2005."
