Duran Duran to take one last stroll down 'Carpet'
Duran Duran will make a final push behind the its most recent studio album, "Red Carpet Massacre," with a run of dates late in the year.
The British pop-rockers kick off the North American portion of the outing Nov. 28 in Mexico City. The first US show follows a few nights later (12/1) in San Antonio, with the band wrapping up the 13-city run Nov. 14 in Montclair, NJ. Details are provided below.
For further ticketing information, including pre-sale dates and the group's international schedule, check Duran Duran's official website.
Issued last fall, "Red Carpet Massacre" is the band's 12th studio album. The follow-up to 2004's "Astronaut" features production help from Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, as well as noted pop studio ace Danja (Britney Spears, Nelly Furtado). During the recording process, the group weathered the departure of founding member Andy Taylor, who was unhappy with Duran Duran's musical direction, according to published reports. Taylor was replaced by Dominic Brown, who currently serves as the band's touring guitarist.
"It's lurid," singer Simon LeBon explained to LiveDaily of the album's title earlier in the year. "It's like a lurid headline on a newspaper, isn't it? To a certain extent, we're looking at people living their lives in public, whether they're in reality TV or celebrities in meltdown. Models in rehab. You know what I mean? You can sum all of that stuff up along with the fact that you've got guys trying to blow you up on the train. It's a lurid title."
The video for "Falling Down," the Timberlake-produced lead single from "Red Carpet Massacre," is streaming at the band's website.
