Taking Back Sunday makes a fresh start
Melodic hardcore rockers Taking Back Sunday are in the studio working on their next album, and the bandmates will likely preview some of the new material on their upcoming US tour.
The quintet, which has been off the road for a while, is set to return to the stage Nov. 13 to help open the new Club Nokia in Los Angeles. Taking Back Sunday will officially roll out the tour bus beginning Dec. 3 in Corpus Christi, TX, and hit 15 US cities with support from fellow Long Island, NY, alt-rockers Envy on the Coast. Details about the all-ages tour are listed below.
Pre-sale tickets will be available starting tomorrow (10/9), and the general onsale begins Saturday (10/11). Further information is available at Taking Back Sunday's website.
TBS recently entered a New York City studio to record the followup to 2006's gold-certified "Louder Now." The as-yet-untitled album, produced by David Kahne (Paul McCartney, The Strokes), is expected to surface next year. It will mark the band's first set with guitarist and second vocalist Matt Fazzi, who joined Taking Back Sunday following Fred Mascherino's exit last year.
"Matt has brought new life to Taking Back Sunday, a theme ever-present in the material we have been working on for the past few months," vocalist Adam Lazzara said in a press release. "He continues to give us a new perspective on how we each write and listen to music, pushing both himself and us to cross new borders and venture into new territories with our music. He is the push we needed to break through some walls this time around."
"Louder Now," TBS's debut on Warner Bros. Records, reached No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and helped the band log total sales of more than 2.5 million. The set was followed by the CD/DVD package "Louder Now: Partone," which includes behind-the-scenes footage, music videos and live-performance clips. "Louder Now: Parttwo" surfaced late last year.
