Scars on Broadway cancel tour

Just days before they were scheduled to launch a North American outing in support of their debut album, Scars on Broadway--featuring System of a Down members Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan--have canceled the outing.

"Late last week, Malakian concluded that his heart wasn't into touring at this time, so he made the decision to cancel all scheduled performances," reads an announcements posted Monday (10/6) at the band's website. "There are no plans to reschedule."

The announcement goes on to say that ticket-refund information will follow "shortly."

Malakian followed up the announcement with a Tuesday (10/7) website message of his own, in which he addressed fan complaints posted on the site's message board.

"I've read many of your postings and I owe it to all of you to respond," Malakian wrote. "I understand all of your frustration and anger, and I never meant to let any of you down. Your support for Scars has been so important to me and the band. I would never cancel a tour unless I had real reasons and personal things that require my undivided attention. The music of Scars will live on, but now is a time when aspects of my life need to be tended to. I hope all of you can understand."

As previously reported, Scars on Broadway wwere due to kick off their North American tour Oct. 19. The outing was to be part of the group's support for its self-titled debut, which surfaced in July.
