Calexico lines up stateside run for November

Alternative folk/roots outfit Calexico has lined up another round of headlining dates this fall to push the band's latest studio set, "Carried to Dust."

The Arizona-based group--featuring a shifting lineup led by the band's founders and only permanent members, guitarist/vocalist Joey Burns and drummer John Convertino--kicks off the run Nov. 7 in Austin, TX. The group, which is currently trekking through Europe, will hit 17 cities in just under three weeks during the November outing.

The group's North American dates are included below, and its international schedule can be found at its website.

Released in early September, "Carried to Dust" features Burns and Convertino working with the core lineup that the group featured on 2003's "Feast of Wire": steel guitarist Paul Niehaus, keyboardist/trumpeter Jacob Valenzuela, multi-instrumentalist Martin Wenk and standup bass player Volker Zander. Iron & Wine's Sam Beam, Tortoise bassist Doug McCombs and Pieta Brown make guest appearances on the set.

"We meet a lot of people," Burns recently explained to LiveDaily about the band's collaborative process. "A lot of the musicians that we play with are from different countries and it's exciting too. It's a great opportunity and I feel like the music itself is open and there's lots of room for other guests. Also, I think it's just a natural thing for musicians to want to collaborate."

The new album follows 2006's "Garden Ruin," Calexico's fifth studio release, which was recorded in the group's hometown of Tucson, AZ, with producer JD Foster (Marc Ribot, Richmond Fontaine).
