Gretchen Wilson finishes year with a few more dates
Following an extensive North American summer tour, Gretchen Wilson is moseying into fall/winter with a handful of US shows.
The country star will resume roadwork Nov. 20 in Loveland, CO, and visit cities in Wyoming, Minnesota, California and Nevada through mid-December. Stops include a two-night stand in Las Vegas. Details are listed below.
Wilson continues to support last year's "One of the Boys," which became her third No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. The set features Top 40 country hits including the title track, "You Don't Have to Go Home" and "Come to Bed," which was produced by the singer's longtime collaborator, John Rich of Big & Rich.
The Redneck Woman's latest single, "Don't Do Me No Good," was released over the summer and is the lead track off her forthcoming album, tentatively titled "I Got Your Country Right Here." The record, which is said to have a heavy Southern-rock feel to it, was originally scheduled to drop this fall, but the date was apparently pushed back to early 2009 after "Don't Do Me No Good" failed to crack the Top 40, according to music-news website Country Standard Time.
Meanwhile, Wilson is joining country stars including Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans and LeAnn Rimes on the forthcoming holiday offering "Elvis Presley Christmas Duets." The set, which uses innovative technology to pair the singers with the King, is the first Presley duets album and the first Christmas compilation of its kind, according to a press release. It is scheduled to hit stores tomorrow (10/14).
Wilson burst onto the music scene with her 2004 debut, "Here for the Party," which spawned her signature hit, "Redneck Woman," went five-times platinum and won the singer a Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Her 2005 follow-up, "All Jacked Up," shot to No. 1 on The Billboard 200.
