Janet Jackson again postpones return
Janet Jackson 's mystery illness continues to push back her highly anticipated return to the road.
After a half-dozen postponements, the superstar's "Rock Witchu" outing was scheduled to resume last Saturday (10/11) in Uncasville, CT, but that concert was shelved at the last minute due to "doctors orders." A rep from tour promoter Live Nation told "Access Hollywood" that tickets would be honored for a rescheduled date and that the world tour would resume tonight (10/13) in Verona, NY. However, the Verona show at Turning Stone Resort & Casino has since been put on the list of postponements and the venue's website says a rescheduled date will be announced soon.
Her illness has also prompted Jackson to move her New York City show at Madison Square Garden from Oct. 16 to November 1. The singer's Oct. 15 engagement in Washington, DC, is still being advertised; an updated itinerary is included below.
"Janet, who has been under her doctor's care and recuperating over the last week, is excited about getting back on the road and again being able to share with her fans what she feels is one of her best stage shows ever," Live Nation previously told "Access Hollywood" in a statement.
The pop star became "suddenly ill" and was taken to the hospital just before she was to play her Sept. 29 gig in Montreal. In addition to that last-minute cancellation, Jackson has bowed out of early October shows in Boston; Philadelphia; Atlanta; Greensboro, NC; and Sunrise, FL. She has asked fans to hold onto tickets, as Live Nation is working to reschedule all the dates, according to the Associated Press.
The "Rock Witchu" tour, which launched Sept. 10, is Jackson's first outing in seven years. The 42-year-old performer is supporting her 10th studio effort, "Discipline," which topped The Billboard 200 in March--her sixth album to do so.
