Ben Harper To Follow Dave Matthews Tour With More Road Work
Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals will take a three-week break after wrapping up their stint with Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday (7/25), then will return to the road to headline a tour of their own.
Harper is touring behind his fourth album “Burn To Shine” (Virgin). Nearly 300,000 copies of the album have sold to date. The album has spawned two singles--the title track and “Steal My Kisses”--neither of which have broken into the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Though Harper’s music is heavily played on the rare AAA radio format, and his music has picked up some recent support from more mainstream stations, he has built his audience largely through near-constant touring. His performances regularly sell out at 1,000 to 3,000 seat venues.
Earlier this year, Virgin Records and Liquid Audio brokered a deal to offer seven live, previously unreleased Ben Harper tracks through more than 150 e-commerce websites. Seven tracks are available in the Liquid Audio format at $1.99 each or $9.99 for all seven through sites that are listed at www.benharperdownload.com. An eighth track is being offered for free in the Windows Media format through the same site.
