Meat Loaf returns to the road

Meat Loaf continues his comeback from the throat problems that caused him to cancel his European tour last year, launching the US stretch of his Casa de Carne tour this week.

The theatrical rock singer, who was forced to cancel his European run last summer after being diagnosed with a cyst on his vocal cords, kicks off the new trek Friday (10/17) in Clearwater, FL, with an additional seven dates lined up through early December. Details are below.

The rocker continues to support 2006's "Bat Out of Hell III: the Monster is Loose." The third installment of the "Bat" series was the first to not feature production assistance from Meat Loaf's longtime musical partner, Jim Steinman, the result of a quarrel between the two over legal ownership of the "Bat Out of Hell" trademark.

"Meat Loaf: In Search of Paradise," an independently produced film documenting the singer's 2007 world tour on and off stage, was theatrically released in 25 cities this spring, and surfaced on DVD last month.

"Bat Out of Hell" was released in 1977 and stayed on The Billboard 200 album chart for 82 weeks, according to a press release. The sequel, 1993's "Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell," earned Meat Loaf a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Solo Performance. The first two albums in the series have sold nearly 50 million copies combined.

Meat Loaf is also a successful actor, having appeared in more than 60 television shows and feature films, from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" to last year's "Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny."
