Bryan Adams goes solo on the West Coast
Bryan Adams has booked another short run of US solo-acoustic performances to support his latest album, "11."
The veteran Canadian rocker, who is set to launch a UK tour next weekend, will return stateside beginning Nov. 28 in Seattle. He'll stick to the West Coast, playing gigs in Oregon, California and Arizona through Dec. 7. US dates are listed below and those overseas can be found at Adams' website.
In May, the Grammy winner released "11," which shot to No. 1 in Canada and entered Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart at No. 7. The appropriately titled set is Adams' 11th album of original music and features 11 songs that he recorded in hotel rooms and backstage areas of concert venues across Europe over the last two years. A deluxe-edition of the record featuring bonus tracks and an exclusive performance DVD is due next month.
Adams has been playing solo-acoustic shows across the US since spring to showcase material from the acoustic-based "11" and put a new spin on some of his classics.
"I think for a lot of people that haven't heard me do [an acoustic show] before, it will be intriguing because to play a song like 'Cuts Like a Knife' on acoustic guitar is quite a different thing than hearing it with a full band," Adams explained during a press teleconference earlier this year. "I believe that that will give some insight into the songwriting and it shows that some of the new songs blend in. It's like one solid body of work."
Adams' previous studio album, "Room Service," was released in the US in 2005 and marked his first set of new music in almost seven years, with the exception of the 2002 Grammy-winning film soundtrack for "Spirit," which the singer/songwriter composed and performed in English and French.
In his spare time, the Canadian Music Hall of Famer continues his work as a photographer, philanthropist and activist. Last month, Adams played peace-themed concerts in the Republic of Georgia and London, and he recently filmed a vegetarian testimonial advertisement for PETA. He's also made headlines with his latest photo exhibition, "Hear the World," which features portraits of celebrities and benefits the hearing impaired.
