Album Chart: AC/DC trounces new 'High School Musical' set
As expected, AC/DC's "Black Ice" dominates the US album chart this week thanks to 784,000 copies sold during its first week out, despite the fact that the set was sold exclusively through Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and the band's website.
This marks the first time AC/DC has debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 chart, though 1982's "For Those About To Rock We Salute You" climbed to No. 1 in 1982, according to Billboard. Billboard currently bases its flagship album chart on Nielsen SoundScan retail reports.
The Disney soundtrack "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" enters the chart at No. 2 with sales of 297,000, while T.I. 's "Paper Trail" slips one rung to No. 3 on sales of 93,000 copies, according to Billboard.
Kenny Chesney 's "Lucky Old Sun" falls from No. 1 to No. 4 on sales of 88,000, while Metallica 's "Death Magnetic" slips one spot to No. 5 on sales of 52,000.
Rounding out the Top 10 are Kid Rock tour dates, tickets and news" style="color:#630000;">Kid Rock 's "Rock N Roll Jesus" at No. 6, Mary Mary 's "The Sound" at No. 7, Ne Yo's "Year of the Gentleman" at No. 8, Jennifer Hudson 's self-titled set at No. 9, and Lil Wayne 's "Tha Carter III" at No. 10.
