James McMurtry rounds up fall headlining dates
Singer/songwriter James McMurtry will head out on the road following next week's US elections to play more headlining dates with his band, The Heartless Bastards.
Following a Nov. 3 "get out the vote" event with Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings in Austin, TX, McMurtry and company will head to Atlanta for a Nov. 7 appearance that will kick off the two-week club trek.
Early next year, McMurtry will launch his first-ever European tour, with shows in Switzerland, The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the UK. Those dates are posted at his MySpace page.
The performer's latest studio release, "Just Us Kids," is his eighth full-length effort, and follows 2005's "Childish Things," which spent six weeks at No. 1 on trade publication Radio & Records' Americana chart. The album hit stores earlier this year.
McMurtry is currently giving away a previously unreleased live version of "We Can't Make it Here," a song he first offered as a free download just before the 2004 Presidential Election. The original track went on to win Song of the Year honors at the following year's Americana Music Awards.
The live track was recorded at McMurtry's concert earlier this year at Southpaw in Brooklyn, NY, and can be downloaded at the singer's website.
